Thanksgiving.....Ikea.... and the Theatre darling!!

Well the above just about sums up my week. I spent last Tues at the Thanksgiving Service for Ali. Her cremation was private for family only but the held a Thanksgiving Service for her in the afternoon. I wasn't exactly looking forward to it but I'm glad I went it had everything praise, tears, laughter etc.

So on Wednesday Kerrie and I went to Ikea now I have avoided it since it opened. I decided to brave it knowing it wouldn't be as busy during the week. It took us about 3 hours to get round it all and have our lunch. I nearly came home with a wardrobe but I resisted the temptation... well I would never have fitted it in the Fiesta. But I did buy quite a bit when I got home I checked my receipt I bought 19 items and had only spent 25 quid :-)

Tonight I am off to the theatre darlings, thats what I said to the kids and they looked at me like I had two heads. Going to the Opera House to see an "Our Jimmy" tribute he is supposed to be very good I have never seen him before but my friend Lisa from work has so we are going together with another couple of her friends. Should be good fun.

Now I have been inspired by all this baking going on so I might even have a go myself at the weekend... mind you I havn't baked since I left school in 1984... somebody has to keep the bakeries open:-)

Back To normality

Well we have had the first full week of school over us and everything appears to be going well so far. The daily notes of money required for school fund, items required for art, money for technology and more money for a trip away to Ardnabannon at the end of the month. Oh and not forgetting backing those school books what joy.

Kerrie has very begrudgingly gone back to college she doesn't want to go but I wont let her leave without getting a job first and she has done very little over the summer to find one. Now however that she is back she has increased her efforts thankfully. She is off into town today to shop and chase up a few job leads. The shops are starting to advertise for Christmas Staff so I think she hopes to get something soon. Anything to get out of college.

As for me it was the start of my new healthy eating and it actually hasn't been that bad so far I have even started getting out walking yes even in all the rain. But I dont stop thinking about food and not necessarily what I cant have I'm just a bit obsessive.

I also went back to work on Wednesday and funnily enough it felt like I hadn't been away. My usual work partner is off this week so I will have to wait unitl next week to find out what he has been saying about. He usually makes up outrageous stories about were I am when I'm off and one day people are actually going to believe him!!!

On a sadder note my friend from work Paul lost his wife to Cervical Cancer Ali was only 34 and leaves two young sons aged 5 and 3. So please pray for them and ladies if you have been avoiding getting that smear test or simply forgotten how long it is since you had it done just make that appointment and go.

IT'S FINALLY ARRIVED......YIPEE!!

What am I talking about the last day of school holidays of course.. well for me anyway. Tomorrow morning Megan and I will be up bright and early for school. Well she only has 3hours to do Thurs and Fri first full day isn't until Monday.

So this being the last day what did I have to do.......... buy school shoes of course. I as usual left it until the last minute. Went to Clarkes if Forestside took my little ticket from the machine and waited patiently it was eventually our turn to be served Megan showed the girl the shoes she liked and off she went in search of her size. Now the shoes Megan wanted of course were to slim for her feet I knew this when I looked at them but she had to try for herself. She has a high instep which means she needs a wide fitting shoe and can rarely get what she wants there is either one pair or if she is really lucky two to choose from. Well after trying on six pairs they were all to small. Then of course panic set in were was I going to get shoes at this short notice. The girl in the shop thankfully pointed me in the direction of the Startrite shop on Saintfield Rd obviously she couldnt recommend them because they wern't Clarke's but I took the hint and off we set. Ten minutes later in the shop the girl had no problem finding a shoe wide enough came out with four boxes in different styles. Megan has never been so happy getting shoes she actually had a choice. So purchased said shoes and now have one very happy daughter. Guess were I'm going next time.

I intend to start getting fit and eating heathly from Monday 1st September I refuse to use the word diet and hopefully by recording it on here I will stick to it....... well thats the plan.
